On of the SDAIE strategies that I observed was from my CT who gives the
students an outline of the notes for the lecture. Before the power point
presentation we highlight many of the key topics on the handout. The power
point presentation is in different colors and students know that writing that
is in a certain color is information that doesn’t need to be written down. The
handout has the key topics followed by bold terms that the students need to
focus on while they take notes. To keep the students engaged there are blanks
in some sentences so that students pay attention to the presentation and find
the information to fill in the blanks. It is a good strategy that not only benefits
the English leaner’s but every student because it helps him or her understand
what information they need to retain from the lecture.
